About Us
A Unique Perspective on Musicians
The BCMUI is a group of musicians, all of whom were black at its inception, who come together regularly to extol, exhort, celebrate, and support other musicians, especially church musicians. Church musicians are expected to be faithful, courteous, courageous, and self-sacrificing. Their contributions are often discounted and they are seldom paid their truth worth. It’s a good thing that most do not play for money, but for the shear joy of serving God through service to his people. We offer a weekly vlog cast where we discuss the concerns and issues of musicians from a uniquely musician’s viewpoint. Our immediate goal is to provide a meeting place so that musicians can tell their story as they offer advice for other musicians. The mid-range goal to provide a clearinghouse for job seekers and music students who wish to engage with job providers, music teachers, and other church-related personnel. Our quixotic, long term goal is to create and maintain an international coalition/guild/union of musicians.
We focus on creating a space where musicians can feel understood and supported in their journey.
Our weekly vlog cast serves as a platform for inclusive and constructive discussions on the challenges and triumphs of being a musician. Our motto is “we agree to disagree.”

Our Story
From Passion to Unity
The Black Church Musicians United, Int’l is an all-inclusive group of musicians who all happened to be black church musicians at its reinvigorization. The group was founded with a passion for music and a desire to bring together musicians from various backgrounds. What started as a small group of church musicians sharing their experiences grew into a vibrant community dedicated to supporting and uplifting others. Our main purpose is to expand our reach and build connections with music students, job providers, music teachers, and other professionals in the church music industry. Our history is marked by a commitment to creating a collective voice for musicians worldwide, and we continue to strive towards our vision of an international coalition/guild/union of musicians.
